DR. SALVADOR AHH!!!

This guy is the only video game character known to date that can scare me half to death with the exception of Sonic's drowning music. I’m not that old and I’m not that young, but this guy can scare me no matter what.

He was first introduced in Resident Evil 4 in the village. A certain action must happen in order to release the guy at the very first part where all the villagers comes after you (You have to go inside a two-story house and retrieve the shotgun to trigger a cutscene that has him activated as an enemy you must kill). This guy can take multiple hits from a shot gun, even up close. Of course, once he gets to you, you’re automatically dead. Who else can survive a chainsaw to the neck? I don’t think anyone so far. Yeah, he's easier to take down if you have different sorts of grenades, but I like a challenge where I have no throwing weapons and hardly got any ammo on me as well. THAT'S horror for you right there folks.

He’s a big, oversized scary piece of horror in brown overalls with a potato sack over his head wielding a chainsaw. I mean, he makes Leatherface look like a freaking joke! Sure, Leatherface has human skin over his face, but I can easily mistake that as a plastic mask rather than actual flesh... Well, unless I'm not close to him to actually smell the horrific odor that comes from it. But still, overalls!!!

Dr. Salvador wasn't the only big guy that was in this game. No, you had:

The Bella Sisters. They were also a threat in this game, having a sister pair wielding chainsaws coming after you at the same time, but they were really easy to take out. If memory serves me correctly, because I have not played the game in such a long time, you encounter them twice in the village area, where one of the encounters you can easily cheat your way to victory against them by heading up on this second story of a farm building and keep knocking down the ladder while also shooting them from above. And the second encounter is when you're jumping over gaps in this one area where all you can do is keep jumping back and forth while also standing right next to the ledge so it's kind of hard to have them jump over. They're really easy to take out if you have one in front of you while the other is off in some god forsaken realm of the unknown.

The Garrador. He's this blind monster with Vega-like claws coming after you after you somehow observe closely at this one statue in Salazar's castle. If you run, he comes after you, if you shoot, he comes after you. He uses his extremely sensational hearing to figure out where you're at. You also encounter this thing again when you pick up I think an hour glass in this other room where a very small cage comes dropping down, trapping you with the Garrador, and both doors are locked... while cultists are shooting flamed arrows at you. In order to defeat this guy, you have to somewhat distract him. The first encounter, you have to shoot the bells on both sides of the room. He'll come charging after those and he'll get stuck. There, this worm-like tentacles will come out and you have to shoot at that. The second encounter is a little tricky because of how much space you have in between him and you. If you can somehow get the doors unlocked, you're pretty much in the green zone in this area. Otherwise, you really have to be careful not to get hit when he just randomly starts swiping at the air when he thinks he's right next to you.

There are other mini-bosses in this game that I really don't feel like mentioning because they didn't bring enough challenge to me when I fought them. Yeah, they were tough to take down, but if I didn't find a challenge against them, they're not worthy in my post.

Dr. Salvador will always be the only character in video game history that scares me during every single encounter. I freak out so much when I have to fight against him in Mercenaries in the areas that you encounter him (because otherwise you're fighting against the Garrador). I freak out even more when I hear him at the very start of the arena... But sadly, they had  to ruin my fun with him when he was replaced with his replacement in RE5... And what I mean is, THEY CENSORED OUT THE DECAPITATION!!! That's what I mean!!! (If you really thought I was that low... think again.) Apparently, some countries found that Leon's head decapitation was too graphic and horrifying that if Capcom were to sell RE5 in their country, they had to censor out a few things. They literally took my favorite death scene into a laughing stock come towards the next game.

And some people still ask me why I haven't really touched Resident Evil 5.

Shameful.

ZUMA!!!

Oh do I love this game! I’m so glad my daddy found this game on Shockwave.com. What this game is basically is that your cursor is a rotating Frog that shoots out colored spheres. Depending on what color that’s going to shoot out of your mouth, you need to match that color with the colored spheres in the moving chain. That chain is heading towards a skull mouth, and if the chain reaches there, it’s game over and you lose a life. (The game will start making a heart beating sound if the chain gets too close to the end) The chain is endless until you hear ZUMA!!! With that, the chain suddenly ends and you’re finishing off the remaining chain. Extra points goes to you at the end of the round by counting off points on how far the last sphere disappeared all the way to the skull mouth.

There’s two games, original Zuma and Zuma’s Revenge. In that game, you’re also up against bosses, you have new powers and you also have a different style in playing.

You see in original Zuma, you’re just going after the chain in various different puzzles and they just add a new color. The colors are blue, red, yellow, green, purple and tan. While in the other game, there’s a challenge mode, there’s bosses... Ugh so much improved from this game!

In Zuma’s Revenge, you get to use weapons that helps you clear the round such as the laser cannon which fires an individual sphere out of the chain (most useful for the spheres that are by their lonesome on the chain and not near any of the same color) and the three sphere blasts in which your froggy character shoots out three bolder-like spheres at the chain, causing it to pry it apart (most useful when the puzzle is in the shape of a spiral so that you can cut the chain in various different ways) You did get some weapons in the original, but nothing like this. You have the accuracy helper that gives you a coned line to help you aim better and the slow sphere that slows down the movement of the chain.

The bosses in Zuma’s Revenge has you pitted down against the boss and a chain, but you’re also making sure that the chain doesn’t get near the skull while you’re fighting against the boss. What’s worse is that they throw things at you that causes your froggy to shoot a lot slower so if your chain is nearing the skull at the same time you’re hit, you’re most likely going to lose a life because it’s SO slow.

The end boss is a challenge, but you’ll survive, just make sure the hoola dancers get hit before they throw things at you as well.

The challenge mode has you going up against a series of hardened puzzles that you need to complete. But of course this is a challenge mode, so what better way to challenge you by only allowing you to have one life. So far, I’ve only gotten up to level eight, it’s REALLY difficult at times.

Lastly, the new style for this game, Zuma’s Revenge has your cursor actually moving up and down a straight line, and hoping back and forth from two spots on the map. The times where you’re moving in a straight line has you fighting against the chain that comes at you in a zig-zag line most of the time, and you cannot tilt the frog left or right just the course it’s supposed to go. It feels a bit stiff at times, but otherwise, it’s a cool different style. And the parts it has you hopping around, there’s more of a difficulty there. Sometimes where they have you hopping, the chain isn’t there at that part of the screen yet, so you’re stuck with just one post. When the chain grows longer and is a bit out of hand well... You’re kinda doommed if you don’t react fast enough because by the time the chain gets to the other post, you’re also hearing the heart beat sound.

So you know what happens when the skull eats the chain!

I have no complaints to Zuma, I really don’t. I occasionally say “damnit” whenever I mess up on the chain. I’m getting rid of all the long chain of blues and greens and then out of nowhere I shoot a yellow sphere right in the middle of a red chain. Ridiculous.
