"My name is BERTHA. Ready to play "
I’m a big Resident Evil fan, I enjoy the games... But... I’m kind of shocked at how the latest new game turned out to be. This game seemed really awesome, that finally, you get to play as Umbrella not as a hero... I’m a bit disappointed. I’m not going to say that this game sucks or whatever, because it doesn’t, I was just disappointed in a few aspects of the game that I really thought would have been cool.
Let’s start out with how many players can play. Whelp, it’s a single-player game, although up to eight people can join you through the Playstation Network system. What? I was really hoping that I could spend some time wasted with my boyfriend shooting zombie heads and killing the heroes just like that! Unfortunately, this game is a single-player game, despite that you can have three computer bots joining your side... This couldn’t be two-players because...?
The characters are interesting. I chose to play as BERTHA, the medic. Why I always pick the medic in games is beyond me. Anyways, the others are FOUR-EYES, LUPO, VECTOR, SPECTRE, and BELTWAY. They all have something unique about them. All work for Umbrella, all have cool voice effects that makes them sound like a cyborg.
RE:ORC’s story is also a unique one. You’re Umbrella, trying to get a sample of the T-Virus, of course, you battle the classic William Birkin and his first phase form after you’ve approached him. Then you’re off fighting against Specs, the opposing side that’s trying to help the survivors. You get abandoned after a few failed attempts in eliminating survivors, you get re-attached to Umbrella and you are to finally kill Leon Kennedy and Claire, who also has Sherry by their side.
Depending on your choice in the last mission of the game, you can either kill Leon or save Leon. Whatever your choice is, you have one partner out of the four on your side while the other two are against you. If you’re saving Leon, you have the ability to win the game very, very easily, since you have a boss on your team. All you have to do is literally wipe out the two former teammates, while avoiding zombies, and you’ve won the game with the ending showing how and why you two are surviving. It’s because Umbrella screwed you over and now you’re screwing them over.
Although, the same can not be said if you decide to kill Leon. You see, Leon apparently is a god when you’re trying to kill him. He’s got unlimited grenades and ammo. If you try to CQC him, he’ll counter back and probably, if he’s quick enough, stab you in the neck with his own CQC. He also apparently can take ten grenade launcher shots to the torso and still lives. This guy is nearly impossible to take down. I’m still in the process of doing so and I’m getting more frustrated as time is going by.
When you finally defeat him, he’s dead. Claire, who I do not like in this series, also dies too. Sherry is obviously taken into Umbrella’s hands since that is your primary objective after she comes into the story. If you’re not a Resident Evil fan, research why this child is a very important character throughout this story as well as the original RE2.
The game... it’s frustrating. For some reason Spec soldiers can take a barrage of bullets to the face and still fight back against you. That annoys me. The logic that has behind it is ridiculous because, if I was shot in the face, twenty times by an automatic, I’d probably be dead, don’t you think? The zombies aren’t that big of an issue here, the crimson heads are a little bit of an annoyance because they’re faster and they’re more likely to infect you rather than an ordinary zombie, but, they’re honestly not as annoying as Specs getting shot in the face more than I can shoot.
Some of the bosses can be a bit frustrating too. If you get hit, you take a while to recover. Such as, if you get knocked down to the ground, your character decides that this is the perfect opportunity to take our precious time to move away. I cannot tell you how many times I’ve been ambushed by a group of zombies or William Birkin slamming me with his pipe. And some of the ambush side quests are also annoying. So, we’re in a room and need to find this card to escape from the building, but apparently, we’re being ambushed by Lickers. Okay, if I just stay here with my team and we eliminate them all, we can just get the card and move on, right? NO! As soon as you get that card, the room explodes, and now you have to get out of there before the building collapses while MORE Lickers comes after you. And, if you don’t reach the checkpoint, you’re stuck battling probably an infinite amount of Lickers, who somewhat can kill off your entire team if you’re not careful where they’re at.
Oh, and let me talk about the AI teammates in this game. They can either be extremely smart or extremely stupid and it happens at random times of the game. So, I’m BERTHA and I have LUPO, VECTOR, and SPECTRE on my side and whelp, we’re in a room with laser traps around me. I’ve been given a message that tells me to shoot where the laser is coming from to disarm the trap. Well, I guess my leader LUPO doesn’t understand that if you walk backwards without realizing what’s behind you, you’re going to get blasted by the trap. Oh, but we just came from a long gun fight battle against a horde of Specs in the previous room, and I don’t have a first aid spray to heal her. So, what happened to LUPO? Oh, she’s dead, and I don’t quite feel like resurrecting a dumb bot.
Apparently, your teammates cannot be permanently dead if you let them be there and move on with the mission. As soon as you reach a checkpoint, your teammates will all be with you, and apparently, all will have full health again. Although, if they changed into a zombie, you cannot resurrect them...
Overall, this game is good, but it’s completely frustrating. I wouldn’t say it’s one of the best RE games, but it’s not a huge disappointment either.

Oh Scott Shelby...
Before you continue reading on this review, I’m going to be spoiling the entire ending of the game Heavy Rain. If you have not yet played this game but intend to, don’t read if you don’t want to know what’s what and who’s who. Otherwise, enjoy the review of one of the most depressing characters I’ve played as so far.
The story of the Origami Killer is really a tragic one. By far one of the most tragic reasons for a man to turn into a killer that I’ve ever heard. Scott Shelby, who is one of the four main characters that you get to play, and his brother John were sons of a drunken father and a mother who worked long hours. The father was drunk one day and basically yelled at the kids to “fuck off.” John and Scott begin to play in this construction area up until John gets caught in a sewer. He tells Scott to go get help. Of course his father is useless and there’s no one else around to help them out. You literally get to see John drown in the sewer. This part really almost got me to tear up, because it’s showing the death of a kid drowning... Yeah, sad.
So this literally makes Scott into a killer. He kidnaps little boys and places them in a storm drain. Their father has to undergo a series of tests to see if they can be the ones to save their son. The trials makes the fathers go through horrible and despicable things such as crawling through a tunnel of glass, drinking poison, as well as chopping off a finger. If you succeed in completing the test, you get a text message showing where the boy is being held and a few letters to the hangman puzzle of where the address is at. If you don’t complete the tasks, you don’t get anything.
The reason why Scott is making these men go through these tests is because he wants to see if the boy’s father is capable of saving his son, despite that his father couldn’t. The reason why he’s known as the Origami Killer is because the corpses of the boys are found with an origami figure and a flower. The families were also given a box of origami figures. Each figure had a clue revealing what they needed to do... well the father basically.
If Ethan, another main character who’s son is the Origami Killer’s latest victim, confronts Scott, there’s a chance that he can easily kill Scott right there and then if Norman and Madison aren’t interfering during the encounter. If Madison or Norman reaches the location of the area where Shaun is at, they have the chance to have a huge fight scene against Scott. Madison has her being chased to a top of a huge crane while Norman and Scott battle it out on a conveyor belt having the trash head towards a grinder. Of course, Madison and Norman are the remaining main characters you play as. Ethan is the father of the son who’s kidnapped, Madison is a journalist, Norman is an FBI agent and Scott is supposed to be a “detective” although he really isn’t, but he was in the past.
You can also have Madison or Norman to find Shaun without Ethan, that is if he’s either arrested or dead. Scott gets pissed off that Shaun’s father wasn’t the person who found Shaun first. He wanted Shaun’s father to come to the rescue because he wanted to find that one father that could save his son. To go through Hell just to save the kid from drowning.
Of course, there’s more tragic details I’m missing out with the entire story of Heavy Rain. But I felt that the reason why Scott Shelby turns into who he really is in the story is more depressing than Ethan chopping his finger off, Madison suffering from insomnia or how Norman can literally kill himself using drugs. I just feel that having a story where you see the killer evolved into what he’s known as is really an interesting concept for a major plot of evolving. Really.

DR. SALVADOR AHH!!!
This guy is the only video game character known to date that can scare me half to death with the exception of Sonic's drowning music. I’m not that old and I’m not that young, but this guy can scare me no matter what.
He was first introduced in Resident Evil 4 in the village. A certain action must happen in order to release the guy at the very first part where all the villagers comes after you (You have to go inside a two-story house and retrieve the shotgun to trigger a cutscene that has him activated as an enemy you must kill). This guy can take multiple hits from a shot gun, even up close. Of course, once he gets to you, you’re automatically dead. Who else can survive a chainsaw to the neck? I don’t think anyone so far. Yeah, he's easier to take down if you have different sorts of grenades, but I like a challenge where I have no throwing weapons and hardly got any ammo on me as well. THAT'S horror for you right there folks.
He’s a big, oversized scary piece of horror in brown overalls with a potato sack over his head wielding a chainsaw. I mean, he makes Leatherface look like a freaking joke! Sure, Leatherface has human skin over his face, but I can easily mistake that as a plastic mask rather than actual flesh... Well, unless I'm not close to him to actually smell the horrific odor that comes from it. But still, overalls!!!
Dr. Salvador wasn't the only big guy that was in this game. No, you had:
The Bella Sisters. They were also a threat in this game, having a sister pair wielding chainsaws coming after you at the same time, but they were really easy to take out. If memory serves me correctly, because I have not played the game in such a long time, you encounter them twice in the village area, where one of the encounters you can easily cheat your way to victory against them by heading up on this second story of a farm building and keep knocking down the ladder while also shooting them from above. And the second encounter is when you're jumping over gaps in this one area where all you can do is keep jumping back and forth while also standing right next to the ledge so it's kind of hard to have them jump over. They're really easy to take out if you have one in front of you while the other is off in some god forsaken realm of the unknown.
The Garrador. He's this blind monster with Vega-like claws coming after you after you somehow observe closely at this one statue in Salazar's castle. If you run, he comes after you, if you shoot, he comes after you. He uses his extremely sensational hearing to figure out where you're at. You also encounter this thing again when you pick up I think an hour glass in this other room where a very small cage comes dropping down, trapping you with the Garrador, and both doors are locked... while cultists are shooting flamed arrows at you. In order to defeat this guy, you have to somewhat distract him. The first encounter, you have to shoot the bells on both sides of the room. He'll come charging after those and he'll get stuck. There, this worm-like tentacles will come out and you have to shoot at that. The second encounter is a little tricky because of how much space you have in between him and you. If you can somehow get the doors unlocked, you're pretty much in the green zone in this area. Otherwise, you really have to be careful not to get hit when he just randomly starts swiping at the air when he thinks he's right next to you.
There are other mini-bosses in this game that I really don't feel like mentioning because they didn't bring enough challenge to me when I fought them. Yeah, they were tough to take down, but if I didn't find a challenge against them, they're not worthy in my post.
Dr. Salvador will always be the only character in video game history that scares me during every single encounter. I freak out so much when I have to fight against him in Mercenaries in the areas that you encounter him (because otherwise you're fighting against the Garrador). I freak out even more when I hear him at the very start of the arena... But sadly, they had to ruin my fun with him when he was replaced with his replacement in RE5... And what I mean is, THEY CENSORED OUT THE DECAPITATION!!! That's what I mean!!! (If you really thought I was that low... think again.) Apparently, some countries found that Leon's head decapitation was too graphic and horrifying that if Capcom were to sell RE5 in their country, they had to censor out a few things. They literally took my favorite death scene into a laughing stock come towards the next game.
And some people still ask me why I haven't really touched Resident Evil 5.
Shameful.

ZUMA!!!
Oh do I love this game! I’m so glad my daddy found this game on Shockwave.com. What this game is basically is that your cursor is a rotating Frog that shoots out colored spheres. Depending on what color that’s going to shoot out of your mouth, you need to match that color with the colored spheres in the moving chain. That chain is heading towards a skull mouth, and if the chain reaches there, it’s game over and you lose a life. (The game will start making a heart beating sound if the chain gets too close to the end) The chain is endless until you hear ZUMA!!! With that, the chain suddenly ends and you’re finishing off the remaining chain. Extra points goes to you at the end of the round by counting off points on how far the last sphere disappeared all the way to the skull mouth.
There’s two games, original Zuma and Zuma’s Revenge. In that game, you’re also up against bosses, you have new powers and you also have a different style in playing.
You see in original Zuma, you’re just going after the chain in various different puzzles and they just add a new color. The colors are blue, red, yellow, green, purple and tan. While in the other game, there’s a challenge mode, there’s bosses... Ugh so much improved from this game!
In Zuma’s Revenge, you get to use weapons that helps you clear the round such as the laser cannon which fires an individual sphere out of the chain (most useful for the spheres that are by their lonesome on the chain and not near any of the same color) and the three sphere blasts in which your froggy character shoots out three bolder-like spheres at the chain, causing it to pry it apart (most useful when the puzzle is in the shape of a spiral so that you can cut the chain in various different ways) You did get some weapons in the original, but nothing like this. You have the accuracy helper that gives you a coned line to help you aim better and the slow sphere that slows down the movement of the chain.
The bosses in Zuma’s Revenge has you pitted down against the boss and a chain, but you’re also making sure that the chain doesn’t get near the skull while you’re fighting against the boss. What’s worse is that they throw things at you that causes your froggy to shoot a lot slower so if your chain is nearing the skull at the same time you’re hit, you’re most likely going to lose a life because it’s SO slow.
The end boss is a challenge, but you’ll survive, just make sure the hoola dancers get hit before they throw things at you as well.
The challenge mode has you going up against a series of hardened puzzles that you need to complete. But of course this is a challenge mode, so what better way to challenge you by only allowing you to have one life. So far, I’ve only gotten up to level eight, it’s REALLY difficult at times.
Lastly, the new style for this game, Zuma’s Revenge has your cursor actually moving up and down a straight line, and hoping back and forth from two spots on the map. The times where you’re moving in a straight line has you fighting against the chain that comes at you in a zig-zag line most of the time, and you cannot tilt the frog left or right just the course it’s supposed to go. It feels a bit stiff at times, but otherwise, it’s a cool different style. And the parts it has you hopping around, there’s more of a difficulty there. Sometimes where they have you hopping, the chain isn’t there at that part of the screen yet, so you’re stuck with just one post. When the chain grows longer and is a bit out of hand well... You’re kinda doommed if you don’t react fast enough because by the time the chain gets to the other post, you’re also hearing the heart beat sound.
So you know what happens when the skull eats the chain!
I have no complaints to Zuma, I really don’t. I occasionally say “damnit” whenever I mess up on the chain. I’m getting rid of all the long chain of blues and greens and then out of nowhere I shoot a yellow sphere right in the middle of a red chain. Ridiculous.

Sonic has the Best Soundtrack!!!!
It's true, we cannot deny it. Sonic the Hedgehog, in the years that we loved him the most, his games always had the best music! I've always enjoyed these levels:
Spring Yard Zone - STH1
Chemical Plant Zone - STH2
Angel Island - STH3
Ice Cap Zone - STH3
Launch Base Zone - STH3
Those are my favorites.
Sonic has always gotten so many people agreeing that his game music rocks back when he was on the Sega Genesis (during that time, I had the Genesis, not any other console that he was one during the 90's) and I've spent more time rocking it out rather than playing the actual game. So, I mostly lose a life because time expired. Who can blame me? Youtube wasn't existing yet, so I couldn't just go on the internet and find some way to listen to his music.
Plus, when I was a kid, I couldn't really go on the internet, I spent most of my time on the computer playing Barbie games.
Though, there's always going to be that one song that frightens me. The one soundtrack that plays that makes me so nervous when I'm playing.
This song literally had me pressing the reset button because I refused to let Sonic die. I'm pretty sure we can all relate to that... I'm talking about the song that plays when Sonic is about to drown.
My goodness, this song scared the living crap out of me as a kid because it has you rushing to save Sonic before he drowns. When I first heard this song, I started crying because I wasn't understanding what the heck was going on. Of course, Sonic drowned because I didn't get him out of the water fast enough.
Damn Chemical Zone's pink water trap....
Though I do have this song as a ringtone on my phone whenever the house calls.
But yeap, that's pretty much what I have to say about the music in Sonic. Oh and yes, the rumors are indeed true. Michael Jackson did help write the songs in Sonic 3. Don't believe me? I dare you to look up Michael Jackon's Bad with the Launch Base Zone's music playing... Still don't believe? You're probably just in denial. I don't like the guy either, but hey, the music is good.

Turok Needs a Comback!!!
In March of 97’ we’re introduced on the N64 a first-person shooter that has us hunting dinosaurs and thugs while searching for keys and scattered weapon parts to take down the evil bad guy known as the Campaigner. You, Turok, or otherwise known as Tal’Set, must go through a series of levels, while also having a handful of awesome weapons, killing bosses and jumping to rock to rock just to complete the game. I loved it. Climbing mountains and you hear his grunting expressions, collecting over one hundred life forces and hearing him say “I am Turok!” Ahh, that always made me laugh.
We get introduced to two more games, Turok 2: Seed of Evil and Turok 3: Shadow of Oblivion. We have new levels, new characters, new guns and new Turoks. Turok 2, we’re playing as Joshua Fireseed, and he gets helped out by an alien woman named Adon. In the third, we’re playing as either Danielle or Joseph, siblings of Josh while also being aided with Adon.
As stated, in the first game, you’re Tal’Set, trying to find pieces of this weapon called the Chronoscepter. It’s a massively, powerful gun that the Campaigner also wants. He needs to be dead. So, after going around I believe eight different levels trying to find keys to the portals to get you to the other levels and the missing weapon pieces, you’re up against this guy and once he’s dead, boom the game is completed.
In Seeds of Evil, you’re a new Turok, Joshua Fireseed, who must destroy the Primagen, a powerful alien entity. Adon, the alien female guider, helps you along the way. The Primagen are awaken after Tal’Set destroyed the Chronoscepter. This game has added something new to levels, such as adding mission objectives. Throughout the game, a creature calling himself “Oblivion” appears and sets traps for you which leads up to a new plot of the next game.
That new game is called “Shadow of Oblivion.” You are taking control of one of two characters, even though in the story, they’re traveling together, why that is I don’t really know. Adon also helps you throughout the game as well. You are to put an end to Oblivion once and for all. Josh is dead after being killed by Oblivion’s minions while having nightmarish dreams about this child who appears to be the key.
Oh, I shouldn’t forget the Cerebral Bore. Oh GOD is that gun amazing!! This gun was fucking disgusting when you saw what it could do. And boy do I mean disgusting. What this can do is basically drain its cerebrospinal fluid from the head. After all of it gets drained out, the bore explodes, decapitating the enemy. Sick right? This weapon made Turok even more awesome in my eyes after witnessing such a weapon. This was a bloody piece of fuck and boy was I amazed at what it did to enemies. God do I love that gun.
There was another game called Turok: Rage Wars, it’s just a fighting party game that has you playing as majority of the characters from 1 and 2 in a series of action-based levels that has you unlocking more characters, weapons, and earning trophies. That is basically the point of the game.
Though, sadly, there were two more games that came after this for different systems and neither of them pleased the audience. You see, the next game that came into the series was “Evolution.” I HATED this game with a passion after what it did to the series. This game is a prequel I believe to Dinosaur Hunter, the first game, because it has you playing as Tal’Set again. Your main enemy is a cowboy named Tobias Bruckner.
Interesting thing to note is that Bruckner’s name is being used as a trophy, the Tobias Bruckner Memorial Award that’s given to the worst video game. Thank you Turok Evolution. Thank you.
I couldn’t really tell you the story line behind this game because when I was playing it, I got confused exactly what I was supposed to be doing in each level. I could never really complete an entire level without looking at some walkthrough online because the game is that messed up! The commercials did a heck of a great job promoting this game to me, making it sound like Turok: Evolution is some badass game, but as soon as I got my hands on it, boy was I truly disappointed with how bad everything was.
And then another Turok game came out years later, just called Turok. What were we going to expect from this? A reboot? A sequel to Shadow of Oblivion? Some prequel to one of the previous games? No, we get something entirely different!!! A game that has nothing to do with the story of the series that we have. There’s no Tal’Set, no Joshua, no Adon no Fireseed siblings. We get nothing! And it’s not like Turok was just some random game, it was a comic series! So, let me get this straight, of all the games that are out there that follows the story of Turok, we’re going to create a game that has nothing to do with the story? Not even as a prequel? You’ve gone to be kidding me.
I never did play the game because I was so furious to hear and see what the latest Turok really was. All of my friends who were also Turok fans didn’t even bother to pick this game up either. I know that a lot of people did play this game, and I hope their feelings were crushed when they realized that this game wasn’t going to be a continuous follow-up of the story. I refuse to tell you all what the game was about.
It’s truly a sad ending in how the Turok series ended. I really hope, one day in the future, they decide to bring back the game to what it was. I really wouldn’t mind that at all. And the cerebral bore? Yeah, bring that back as well! I definitely would play the game again... Until then, I’m one, disappointed and sad little kitty.
Also, ever noticed how in the first game you have to jump to rocks every now and then? To rock... Turok... Hmm... To rock, to rock, to rock, Turok, Turok, Turok... Hee hee
